At the beginning of May it was reported that over 5.6 million people had fled Ukraine and left millions other innocent civilians in fear for the lives of their families and loved ones. Here at Space Liverpool we have been absolutely appalled at the treatment of the Ukrainian people and knew we couldn't sit by without taking action.
When we were approached by Liverpool 4 Ukraine to host their launch party and showcase some of the incredible pieces we knew we had to get involved. The night was a great success and we were even lucky enough to invite a Ukrainian artist Sasha Hampshire to show a selection of prints created by herself and her mother and had guests in attendance from the Ukrainian community in Liverpool.

The launch party also and helped kick off the fund raising and launch the physical exhibition that included local businesses exhibiting more artwork.

A lot of the pieces are available to buy now via the Liverpool 4 Ukraine website.

exhibition launched on 20th May and will run until 18th June, and is a collaboration between Space, Jon Turton and Roy McCarthy from Kula Studios, showcasing the work of 20 Ukrainian photographers and raising money for those that have been displaced in the conflict. The prints will be shown around various Baltic Triangle venues and available to buy via QR code with 100% of proceeds going straight back to the artists.

We spoke to one of the organisers Jon about his hopes for the exhibition and how art should be used good. He emphasised that it was important to remember that Ukrainian people are not defined by the conflict and that...
